Turn your payment terminal estate into a loyalty business

If you sell or service payment terminals — as an acquirer, a payment processor, an ISO, or a reseller — you already own something most loyalty companies would pay a fortune for: a live, deployed fleet of devices sitting on merchant counters. This article is about turning that terminal estate into a recurring, high-margin loyalty business, without shipping a single new device.

Why acquiring alone is a race to the bottom

Pure payment acceptance competes on fractions of a percent. Every conversation with a merchant becomes a negotiation over basis points, and the next provider is always one quote away. Hardware resale has the same problem: once the terminal is on the counter, it is a commodity. There is very little that makes a merchant stay with you instead of switching for a slightly better rate.

What a loyalty value-added service changes

A loyalty value-added service flips the relationship. Instead of selling a cheaper way to take money, you give merchants a tool that brings their customers back — repeat visits, redeemed rewards, a direct marketing channel. That is sticky. A merchant who runs their loyalty program on your platform does not switch acquirers casually, because switching now means losing their loyalty data and their customer relationships. On top of that, you add a SaaS revenue line with far better margins than interchange.

How does loyalty run on a payment terminal?

7stamp runs in Terminal Mode — a dedicated mode of the 7stamp Scanner app that runs on an existing Android payment terminal. After a payment, the cashier taps "Serve customer", a QR code appears on the terminal screen, and the customer scans it with their phone. A digital stamp card is created or updated in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and stamps are added. There is no new hardware and no app for the customer to install. Rewards work on the same screen: instant gifts (Award), deferred vouchers (Smart Voucher), and a spin-to-win game (Lottery). See the full flow on the Terminal Mode page.

What about NFC and card-linked loyalty?

The QR flow works today with zero integration. For a more seamless experience, 7stamp also supports deeper flows, available on request. Tap-to-collect uses Apple VAS and Google Smart Tap: on a certified terminal, the loyalty card is read in the same tap as the payment, handled by the terminal's payment application and passed to 7stamp — so it is something you enable on your own payment stack, not a separate app that intercepts the tap. Card-linked loyalty goes further still: the card's PAR (Payment Account Reference) or another non-PCI stable token is matched to the loyalty card on the backend, with no loyalty tap at all. Both are roadmap items — start with QR and grow into them.

How do you deploy it across a fleet?

The 7stamp Scanner app installs from Google Play, or as a direct APK from https://downloads.7stamp.com/7stamp-scanner.apk. The direct APK lets you push and manage the app centrally across your whole terminal estate, instead of touching each device by hand.

How partners make money

The commercial model is the standard 7stamp partner model, and there is nothing special to negotiate to begin. You buy Access Codes at a partner discount, set your own price for merchants, and keep the margin. You can connect your own billing to charge merchants directly, or simply renew them with Access Codes — no recurring-payment integration is required to start. See the partner program or browse the partner store.

Your brand, not ours

This is not reselling someone else's software with their logo on it. With white-label, the admin panel, the customer card page, and the Scanner all run on your own domains, under your own brand, with your own emails and support contacts. Your merchants — and their customers — see your brand, not 7stamp. You are building your own loyalty product on top of infrastructure you already run. Learn more about white-label.
